Do I need a lawyer to come to precinct with me

Asked on Jan 25th, 2020 on Criminal Law - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I was informed that police officers came to my door and there’s a squad car in my driveway . When I called the precinct they told me that I had to come in and wouldn’t tell me anything. I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong but I’m very worried and I’m wondering if I need a lawyer to go with me

First, the police have no right to tell you that you "have to come in."  The only way they can oblige your presence is to arrest you; otherwise, you can ignore their instructions to come in.  I do not recommend that you go in to speak to the police without an attorney present.  You may feel free to contact my law office at (732) 899-2288 to discuss the matter further.
