Does a person have to be in jail until the hearing?

More details to this question:
A friend pleaded guilty to Felony 5 and Felony 6 in Indiana on 2/26/2016. A sentencing hearing is scheduled 4/6/2016. Does he have to spend the time before the hearing in jail? Or can be free until the hearing?

He can bond out. The question is whether it is worth the money to do so if he is going to go right back to jail on April 6. You might be better off saving the money you were going to use for bond and giving it to him to help when he is finally out of jail.
