QUESTION

Does one get in trouble for not reporting a crime immediately?

Asked on May 25th, 2015 on Criminal Law - Texas
More details to this question:
I saw a man beating up this kid near a school last week. When he saw me he told me to stay away and said if I told the police he would find me and beat me too. I was so scared that I left but now I cannot get the kids face out of my head. Iโ€™m afraid of what will happen if I report the guy. Will I get in trouble for not reporting him sooner?

You have no legal duty to that child so you cannot get into trouble but do report that. If you are afraid, imagine that kid!! That is bunk!
