Does store security have a right to put their hands on you?

More details to this question:
I went to a store to look at some tools. I had two tools in my hands. The value was around 75.00. As I was in the store I felt like everybody was watching me. I felt like I was a target. I dropped both tools in one of the battery drill sets and walked out the door. As I walked out my car must of been 6 feet away and some guy in regular street clothes grabbed me and physically slammed me into the ground. He was reaching into my pockets and took my cell phone. I didn't know who this man was. I felt I was in harms way I got into my car and left the mall. As soon as I got home there was a police man that was waiting for me. He was told by the investigator to check my car for any evidence and found none. Then I was taken back to the store and charged with forcibly robbery d felony. The investigator also had my car towed and stripped down and found nothing that belongs to the store. He did take out some of my own tools and I have the receipts too. He won't give back anything. I thing I might have a strong case on them for what they put me through. Robbery has gone to grand jury. Please let me know what my rights are. Thank you.

Retain a good lawyer to investigate the matter and represent you. I do not know the facts and would not be able to advise you unless I has the file and talked to the prosecutor and witnesses.
