QUESTION

Fleeing felon for possession. Will it always be there?

Asked on Mar 12th, 2016 on Criminal Law - Michigan
More details to this question:
I got a possession charge after leaving the state of Michigan. I never went to court and haven't been convicted. Now I have fleeing felon status but live in Hawaii. Michigan will not extradite me. Will the charge always be there if I don't go back to court in Michigan and do jail? Are there any other options?

The only thing you can do is answer to the warrant, that is, show up in Michigan and deal with it. I would contact a lawyer and determine just what the warrant is for, evalute the facts to determine the liklihood of conviction, and to evaluate what a potential sentence might be and to negotiate a voluntary surrender with the authorities in Michigan.   Tom Stotz 586-465-4198
