QUESTION

Having records expunged

Asked on Dec 03rd, 2017 on Criminal Law - Florida
More details to this question:
I was arrested in Broward county in 1999 for possession of 10g of MDMA. I plead no contendo, served 18 months of probation. I believe I had that record sealed but cannot remember exactly since it has been so long. In 2005 I was arrested for uttering a forged instrument and grand theft. Those charges were dropped by the court. I am looking to change jobs now and am worried about what may come up in a job search. I would like to expunge the 1999 charge for the drugs if possible. I am also curious as to how/if the 2005 charge will show up in any criminal background searches and if it is possible to have it sealed.

If you have never been adjudicated guilty of any crimes (including traffic criminal offenses) in any jurisdiction, you are probably eligible to have your file sealed.   However, you can only seal one case. The dropped charges will always show up in a criminal justice search. There are procedures to have the court file of that charge be sealed. There are ways to deal with employers even if it shows on a criminal justice search.   Contact me if you wish to retain me.   If it is important enough to call, it is important enough to leave a message.   Gary Kollin 954-723-9999
