QUESTION

How can I avoid jail time for gross misdemeanor- criminal trespassing 1st degree?

Asked on Apr 03rd, 2016 on Criminal Law - Washington
More details to this question:
I've been a working homeless person for a year in a half now. I was applying for a second job at a staffing agency and my recruiter ran a background check on me. A few days passed and it was news to me that I have a warrant out for my arrest since 2-15-2015, for failing to appear in court. I had no idea that I had been charged with anything yet alone a court date. I don't own a mailing address. I have never been in trouble with the law and has never used violence of any sort in my lifetime. How can I get this cancer of a problem off my record? I need help. I almost died hearing that news on the phone.

You first need to turn yourself in to the police. The charge is serious since it's 1st degree. If this is your first offense you may get probation and have to serve community service. After you have completed the terms of your sentence and waited 2 years, you can expunge your record. Good luck.
