QUESTION

How can I get my car back?

Asked on Jan 05th, 2022 on Criminal Law - Connecticut
More details to this question:
In Sept of 2020 my vehicle was seized by police. My car was apparently used to take someone out of state after a crime was committed. Vehicular homicide / reckless endangerment unbeknownst to myself. It was my daughter's boyfriend. I was told he desperately needed to get to family. It was the pandemic. All I did for the past 6 months was drive around and go out of state because someone asked me too. My daughter quite a bit to drop off and pick up grandson so when I was asked I said sure. I didn't find out til weeks later when my daughter told me what was going on. I was b approached by police and questioned if I gave suspect a ride. I said yes I did. They asked for my keys and I gave them to them. I have not been charged with anything. Now here we are January 2022 and I still have not received my car back. Any feedback would be helpful. 😊 Thanks‼

I would suggest that you send a written demand for the status of your vehicle to the police.  If there is an ongoing criminal case or an investigation, the car may be evidence.  You should also definitely considering hiring counsel to assist in the recovery your vehicle.
