QUESTION

How can my rights be restored?

Asked on Apr 08th, 2013 on Expungements - Michigan
More details to this question:
I was arrested in 1987(state) state withdrew. Feds picked up and sentenced me for drug possession. Two years after initial arrest. I had given up drugs, had my own business etc. still no good spent 1 1/2 year in FDC. Have own business and 5 children, married etc. Never arrested for anything (SINCE) and have 20+ years of business ownership and providing for family and community service. I want to run for office also would like to have the opportunity one day to hunt with my sons before I get too old. Confused because some say it can be done and other say not a chance? Can anyone FIRMLY settle this question? Thank you in advance.

You get conflicting answers because the correct answer is going to be dependent upon the details. You should engage an attorney who is competent and attempt to determine whether or not you have any options. At this time, and given the passage of time and your rehabilitation in may well be possible that you can somehow seek to have the record expunged or set aside. No guarantees, especially on federal cases.
