How do I get an assault expunged if it happened before I turned 18?

More details to this question:
If you have an assault with deadly weapon at age 15 and it's a misdemeanor, but you do not petition the court before 18th b-day, how do you get it expunged when at age 42? Thought that your record was cleared at age 18 if juvenile offense.

Alabama does not have an expungement statute. However, if you were charged in juvenile court or as a Youthful Offender this charge should not be showing up on a record check.
