Asked on Dec 31st, 2012 on DUI/DWI - California
More details to this question:
Ok in 1996 I was charged with a felony DUI. I was sentenced to 6 mon in jail that I served. When I got out I moved to the state of Nevada with my P.O's consent. I was told I could enroll in an out patient program and to attend AA meetings for one year with monthly reports to my P.O in Ca. and told to report to probation in Nev. I reported to the Nev pro. they took my name and number and I was told they would contact me. Meanwhile I enrolled in the out patient program and attended AA. I graduated the out patient program received a certificate of completion and everything about that time Nev probation contacts me and says California never told them a felon was coming to their state and they are sick of this happening and they won't accept me there so tell my p.o. So I do just that I move back to California I try to get my license and they pull this I have to complete a first offenders DUI program I tried to explain the story but nobody can find any records of my probation or anything but on my dmv record it says i have to do the first offenders program. so I tried to enroll then they told me to get a print out from dmv to enroll so i did. Ilive in sonoma co. now the offense was in placer co the DUI program says i have to contact the co that i got the DUI in to get the probation reports but when i do they have nothing so I'm stuck.I haven't had a drink since the year 2000 13 years now I hate not having a license please help!

How do I get my drivers licence back?? By complying with all requirements of the sentencing court and DMV. If you have already contacted DMV to find out what is required, then you will have to do whatever they say, whether you like it or not. Unfortunately, many programs and agencies do not keep records for more than a few years. It might be wise to hire an attorney to try to work out the problems with DMV, possibly even by filing an appeal and having a hearing. Contact local counsel for that.

I have no idea why you would have to go to Dui school in Placer County. Contact a different school near you. The other option would be to go to Placer County for a day and get a referral from a program there to attend in the county where you live.
