QUESTION

How do I get my felony dropped to misdemeanor?

Asked on Jun 07th, 2016 on Expungements - Michigan
More details to this question:
I was convicted of a felony back in 2014 for embezzlement more than $1000 less than $20000. The judge told me if I completed all his requirements, the charge would get dropped to a misdemeanor because I have no previous record. It still shows up as a felony though and I’ve been off probation almost a year now. What should I do?

If you had an actual plea agreement from the judge and prosecutor to reduce to a misdemeanor, you have a right to have that enforced, although it may be a matter of the proper paperwork was not filed when you were discharged from probation.

Check with your original attorney to find out what happened or call the court. If it was part of your deal, it should have been automatic.
