QUESTION

How do police access deleted social media content?

Asked on Dec 12th, 2014 on Criminal Law - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I am 20 years old, and as a student all my life we have been told that the police can access deleted posts on any social media site if the posts contain things such as harassment, threats, etc. I have been in college as an information systems student for the past 2 and a half years, and I do not understand how they could possibly be able to access deleted content, unless that company did complete backups every second. As I hope to work in network security, I would really like to understand how this process works.

the police with the help of the prosecutor and ,if required, a court order from a judge, can obtain full access to all social media. if 'probable cause' of a crime is shown, there is no problem getting the court order. please call if we can help. ed dimon 732-797-1600
