My mother was murdered by her husband and they have been investigating it since 2007 when it happened. The leading witness passed away a few days ago. I am not sure what to do next to ensure the man does not get away with it. What should my next step be?

The key issue is if the State has a witness to prove the case. If not it cannot be prosecuted. Contact the local District Attorney to see about the status of the case.
