How long can they hold me for absconding probation?

More details to this question:
I had 6 months probation on DUI charge from 2013 messed up stopped reporting to probation. VOP issued 12/13. I want to turn myself in to face the music but am not trying to be in jail for months what is longest they can hold you for absconding? And if I have a lawyer can that speed up the process.

I would hire a lawyer to turn yourself in and see if he can negotiate with the PO to lift your detainer. If not, turn yourself in and have the lawyer file a petition to lift detainer with the judge. Hopefully, you can think of a good excuse for not reporting which your attorney can put in the motion.
