How long does it take for a warrant to be active if I did not show to jail?

I have been in and out of the hospital due to a respiratory failure. I just got out of the hospital two days ago. My turn in date is today.

A few hours. You should hire a lawyer to go to court to recall the warrant. A lawyer can do this without you present if the underlying charge is a misdemeanor, so it is less risky for you. Then you can get a new and "safe" surrender date.
