How long will he be in jail for probation violation?

More details to this question:
He was on Probation for a driving under the influence charge. He has prior charges as well, and he was caught drinking on probation and they revoked him. It's been almost two years. They just started his four year probation over again.

This depends on the maximum time that he could get for the underlying charge. I would have to know that in order to answer this question.

Violating probation can result in jail or prison time. How much time would depend on many factors including the sentencing charge, the type of violation, specific facts surrounding the violation, and prior criminal record. He should hire an attorney.

No quick answer. Depends on the County and the judge. They cannot, however, "start probation all over again." There is a misunderstanding here.
