QUESTION

How will a reckless driving conviction effect my employment?

Asked on Aug 05th, 2013 on DUI/DWI - Michigan
More details to this question:
I was charged with a DUI about 4 months ago but my lawyer, thinks that we have a good chance at getting it plead down to reckless driving. I know that it is far less severe than a DUI but it will still show on my criminal record. But from what I know, employers usually only ask for felonies.

A wet reckless is not "far less severe" even when it it's accompanied by a win at the DMV. That being said, it can be an advantageous outcome in many jurisdictions. It is a misdemeanor, criminal conviction and therefore must be admitted if an employer asks. We are seeing a growing number of employers ask about "criminal" convictions. Make sure you don't want to push your case to trial before you take the deal.
