How would I know if my gun rights were reinstated?

More details to this question:
I was convicted eleven years ago for possession with intent to distribute marijuana. A few weeks ago, I was invited on a hunting trip. I declined until I could know for sure if I could ever own or even use a firearm.

You cannot possess a weapon with a felony conviction. There is a process to get your state gun rights restored, you would know if you went through it, but you cannot get your federal gun rights restored without an expungement.

If it was a felony, which I'm guessing it was, yes your rights are gone. If that is your only crime ever, you can have it expunged under the right circumstances.

If there was a felony conviction there is never a chance of getting gun rights restored.

Under federal a felon cannot possess a firearm, there is no automatic reinstatement of firearms rights.
