I applied for a apartment for my family and was turned down do to I have a assult charge. What can I do any order to be able to rent a apartment?

I haven''t murdered anyone and it was a cousin who called the police and made the report. Me,My wife and cousin had been drinking coming from my brothers house 2 years ago during thanksgiving. And I told my wife to pull over so that I can drive back home to my mom, and my cousin got mad an started hitting me while I was driving so I pulled over and shoved her and told them both to get out the car. My cousin lied to the police and pressed charges against me. I went to Jail for 9 months. Now I can''t get a apartment because of the charge.

You didn't say whether you were convicted. Under Virginia law if you are found guilty of an offense, you cannot have that matter expunged.
