Why not have it expunged? You need to have successfully completed the entire term of probation, have nothing criminal pending, and not be on probation for any other offense(s). Contact a lawyer to file the petition for expungement on your behalf.

A DUI stays on your DMV DRIVING RECORD for 10 years. On your criminal record it will be listed as a misdemeanor (unless it was a 4th DUI or you were convicted of a felony DUI with injury) forever unless you have it removed by having it "expunged." If you paid your fine on time and you completed your probation (usually 36 months) then you most likely will be able to expunge your misdemeanor DUI conviction with no problem. This turns it into a "dismissal" - and you could say you've never been convicted after you expunge it - furthermore, only jobs with the state- like fireman, or police officer -would even see it - private business would no longer see it. In other words, if you are worried about this DUI being used against you, then get it removed - I charge about $400 to do that. Now do I think it will affect you getting a job? Who really knows? I would think that if someone really likes you and if you have the skills to do a job it shouldn't be something that would keep you down because it's a misdemeanor. Most employers will pick the person who can do the best job and who can bring the most profit to the business regardless of the Misdemeanor from 11 years ago. However, most job applications ask if you have been convicted of a felony- and it is pretty clear that a felony may affect you from getting a job. Clearly many businesses draw the line at felony not misdemeanor.

Not if you have it expunged.
