More details to this question:
When I was 12 years old I committed a non violent crime that did not involve theft or rape. It resulted in 2 years probation that went very well without incident. Honestly, I don't even know what exactly I was charged with. I was told by my parents that it might have been expunged, but I read online that they only seal criminal records, not expunge them here in the state of NY. I am now a 24 year old law abiding citizen and I have committed zero crimes since then. I would like to apply for my pistol permit but it asks for criminal history, can I mark it as no criminal history, and what happens if it turns out my record wasn't expunged and they get me for lying on my application? If my record is not expunged, can I get it expunged in NY?

Juvenile offenses are sealed. No one can find it unless you tell them. A juvenile record is different.
