QUESTION

I have nolle prosequi for two charges on my record, will that be a negative on a background check?

Asked on Feb 16th, 2012 on Criminal Law - Maryland
More details to this question:
I was charged for theft under $1000 and an insufficient check under $500 in Maryland but received nolle prosequi. My attorney told me that meant the charges were dropped and I would be fine. Recently I was offered a job and states that I had not been charged with anything and am about to have a background check. Can this prevent me from getting the job?

The charges probably will show up in a background check. You should file to get them expunged. It is a very easy process. A lawyer can help.
