I was charged with misdeamenor shoplifting at Kohl's. On the citation it said I was to report for booking on Feb. 1. What does that mean booking?

They accused me of having scissors in my purse to cut off tags which I did not do.I did try to brek a container containging make-up, I realized how stupid I was was acting and went to leave the store. Forgot the shirt was on my purse & was stopped outside the store. They did not give me a chance to speak but said I admitted to shplifting. They even went through my wallet. They were very hostile asking questions about my deceased husband & took turns yelling at me. This is the first time I have been accused of shoplifting and have't a spot on my record for 60 yrs. They said I was going to lose any benefits I have through the V.A. and Social Security. They thought I was putting on an act with my disability & said they did not feel sorry for me bit. They had me sign papers & told me if I didn't go to booking on the 1st I would be arrested. I do not know what is going on & need advice.
