More details to this question:
My wife and I just made some really big purchases in our lives and I really messed up by getting a DUI. I've been tryin to see how much it's gonna cost me to fight this DUI. Wondering if hiring a DUI attorney is going to cost me to much money, or if it would be worth it to fight the DUI.

An estimate cannot be given without more facts, but the cost of an avoidable DUI in the future is huge. That least counsel with an attorney to see what might be possible to gain through professional representation.

It is always worth it in the long run to fight the case. Most times some sort of deal can be worked out, at the very least if the matter can't be beaten.

You can call my office for a referral to a good DWI lawyer in your area. The average fee is at least $1,000 for a plea and more for a trial, which is very reasonable.

Lawyers charge very different fees depending on lots of factors: the difficulty of the case, whether this is a first, second, third or greater DUI, the prevailing rates in your locality, and the skill and experience of the lawyer. Assuming, just for purposes of discussion, this is a second offense OWI, and the charge is in a county in Southern Wisconsin, assume an advance payment of $2,500 to $3,500.00.

The long term costs of having a DUI, over a 7 year period, is estimated to be between $15,000 - $25,000. You need to factor in the immediate costs - close to $2000 in fines and fees, at least $600 for alcohol class, $600 for IID installation - and the long term costs, such as the rise in insurance premium over 7 years. A good DUI specialist will often cost you only a few thousand, with a chance to get the DUI dismissed.

You should meet with an attorney to discuss your case and all possible defenses and options. Cost and fees will be discussed at that time.

Your question requires an attorney consultation. It is not a simple question that can be answered on this type of forum. There are many factors that would need to be considered and evaluated. Each attorney charges differently depending on the facts of your case, the difficulty in defending you, the location where the attorney practices, his/her experience, etc. I suggest that you see a few attorneys to get an idea of the going rate in your area and go with the attorney who best suits you and meets your budget.

A DUI attorney will cost $3,000-5,000; but that outlay could save you a lot more in insurance and other costs and reduced fines.
