I am a 3 time convicted felon, and I got a third dwi and they went back 35 years for the other two. The D.A. offered me six years and my girlfriend told my lawyer she was driving the car and the D,A . They wouldn't listen. My lawyer somehow told the d.a that I wouldn't take the plea bargain and it has been inhanced to 25 to life. My lawyer just informed me two days ago . I go to trial monday..i never spoke with him about a jury trial. He knew from the beginning that I am a third time convicted felon and could not try me.. I need help..advice...i have no time. Thank you Larry Dale Smith
The judge is unlikely to give you and extension because you want to switch attorneys on the eve of trial - becuase this is a common "tactic" in the view of most judges where people are trying to buy more time.
That being said, if your attorney has never talked to you about a trial and you are habitual, that might be a basis for the judge to grant you more time.
