If I paid the $250 fine for the drug paraphernalia, would it still go on my record?

More details to this question:
I was recently stopped in my parked car while waiting for a friend. The cops told me he got a call for disturbance down the street, which was not me. I was not down the street. He insisted I step out of the vehicle because he smelled cannabis. He searched my vehicle and found cannabis on the passenger side, which my friend later confessed to being his. The cop went onto search my locked glove department and my locked trunk without my consent. In the trunk, he found a bong, and wrote me a citation for paraphernalia. What should I do? This is my first offense. I can't afford a lawyer, but I am willing to consult with one. I was willing to go see the DA and ask them to reduce the charges for community service and a fine or something. I am in college and really don't want this on my record. The citation was ordinance violation 13-23. What should I do? On will county site, it says the penalty for this is $250.
