QUESTION

If we go to get married in another state, would I be arrested?

Asked on Feb 08th, 2015 on Criminal Law - Nevada
More details to this question:
I have a felony warrant. My girlfriend made a condition that if we got married, we had to go back and that I take care of it. I’m not trying to mess up the wedding and we are going back to take care of it.

You will most likely be arrested on the felony warrant. The best thing to do is to hire an attorney in the city where the warrant was issued, prior to your returning to this state, in order to make arrangements for you to turn yourself in and either have the warrant recalled, if possible, or have bail set so you can bail out.

If you have an active warrant, you can be arrested if you have any contact with police in any state.
