Is a misdemeanor cleared from a juvenile's record when he turns 18?

More details to this question:
My son is 17 and was charged with a driving under the influence and hit and run. I have a lawyer who does not specialize in juvenile court.

If it is a juvenile case, it should be sealed when the case is closed. You should also review the paperwork from the court.
