QUESTION

Is a verbal gift giving legal?

Asked on Oct 25th, 2016 on Criminal Law - Indiana
More details to this question:
An old roommate first let us use a game console then later on said we could have it since she had two of the same. Now after 8 months, she is saying she is calling the cops on us and reporting it stolen and apparently is showing police have a receipt. Now, after a couple days, is saying we have other items of hers when we do not. I do not feel like giving it back when we have had so much time put into it. I don’t have any proof that she gave it to us either it was verbal talk. She is a very convincing liar and I have had many issues with her in the past.

Yes it is legal, but are you really going to argue about this over a used game console that you used for eight months for free? Doesn't sound like the kind of question to risk prosecution over to me, but it is your call.
