QUESTION

Is it abuse?

Asked on Feb 23rd, 2022 on Criminal Law - Colorado
More details to this question:
So I am 15 and my mother hits me when we fight. She has hit my with a spoon, on my back, butt, and leg, she has hit me with a hanger on my back, she has hit me with a planner, a shoe, and more. She only does it when I am in trouble though, and it causes me to fear her. Sometimes she is on top of me so I cannot get away, and she says she is always within her legal rights and I need help to decide whether that is true or not.

What you describe could be classified as child abuse - a criminal offense that could be reported to the police and prosecuted by teh DAs office in your county.  You asked this question as a 'personal injury' question, which woudl invovle you suing your mother for damages. That woudl be a challenging case to bring and if you won it, I wonder if you would recover any money.  I see it more as a criminal case, for what that is worth.
