Is it illegal for a 15 year old to date an 18 year old?

Im a girl and im 15. My boyfriend was 18 when we started dating. He just turned 19. Weve only been dating a couple . A friend that got mad at me said hes going to call the police because he has messages saying my bf and I had sex. Can that prove anything? I could say it was a friend that said that or that I only said it to make him jealous. Doesnt he have to be able to physically prove we had sex? And dont we have to get caught by the police or another adult? Im not saying we did or didnt. I just want to know what could happen if they proved us guilty.

You're confusing whether it is illegal, and whether it can be proven.
It is illegal if you have sex with him.
Whether anybody can prove it or not depends on the facts and circumstances of the case.
If your boyfriend is found guilty, he could be required to register as a sex offender for many years, along with face a fine and potential jail time.
