Is it illegal for a 17 year old to date a 26 year old?

I am 17 years old and he is 9 years and 9 months older than me. Is it illegal for us to talk and date? With no sexual contact whatsoever. We have talked about it together and we know the consequences and know we are going to not have any sexual contact he is moving to Afghanistan for work for a few years. Also is it illegal to send letters back and forth? Please answer thank you.

Age of consent in Utah is 16 if the other person is less than 10 years older.

There is no law regulating who you can date, only with whom you can have sexual relations.
