QUESTION

Is it possible for me to keep my license for work?

Asked on Jan 07th, 2013 on DUI/DWI - California
More details to this question:
I recently lost my licence for 1 year as of January 17, 2013. I would like to know if I can and how to keep licence for work. I do not want it for personally use because of the interlock device and how much money that costs. Is it possible to keep driving only while at work? My job depends on me driving and without being able to drive I will surely loose my job.

You can get an occupational license but there is a waiting period, depending on the total convictions you have had for OWI, and if you had more than one within the last year. Consult an experienced lawyer.

If you are required to have an interlock, it does not matter whether you are driving for personal use or work - you must have the interlock. Whether you can get an occupational license depends on why you lost the license in the first place.

No, you can't. You may qualify for a restricted license, but only if you install IID and attend an alcohol program.

You may have to pay for the interlock device in order to keep your job.
