I was in an accident where I hit a bicyclist who later died. He was just refused service at the liquor store for being too intoxicated, had literally no brakes on his bike and the streetlight was out. The officers questioned me, etc. I was told the only way it could've been avoided was to go down a different street. I agreed to go down to the station to get blood drawn for a test, which later I heard thru a third party (the victim’s wife had contacted my boyfriend’s dad personally as the cars in his name) questioning him and informing that she'd filed a civil suit as my test results tested positive (?) I was told by my ex she was paid out of court from the family's estate. A couple weeks shy of a year later, I heard thru the grapevine that a warrant had been issued but it's been 5 years. I've not been contacted but am working and living at the same place for 4 with my address on debit cards, magazines and tax returns among others.
If they filed within 1 year it's not a statute problem. If there's a warrant, it doesn't go away. You'll have to go to court to handle it. Hire a lawyer first.
