Is there a way that I can get a pro bono lawyer

More details to this question:
I was appointed a lawyer from the courts and have not received great counsel I asked that my lawyer be dismissed from my case and was told I had to retain my own lawyer I am not in a position to hire a lawyer at great cost and I wanted to know if and how to retain another lawyer for my criminal cases?

When you obtain a court appointed attorney, you get what you pay for. If you don't like that lawyer, sorry. Hire your own.
