If you plead guilty under Code of Criminal Procedure Article 894 it comes off your record after a year. But you might have to file a request for expungment.

First, assuming that this matter has just begun and you have not yet been convicted, you should see if the prosecution will make some type of diversion program available. If so, you will be allowed to enter the program and avoid any type of conviction. Upon successful completion of the program, you can then expunge the arrest from your record. Diversion programs are highly beneficial, and I often recommend them to clients, even when the client has a strong defense. If division is not an option, you should seek to enter a plea pursuant to Article 894 (for misdemeanors such a marijuana) or Article 893 (for felonies and/or other controlled dangerous substances). Upon successful completion of your probation, this will allow you to set aside the conviction and expunge the arrest and conviction from your record. However, you should note that, even though the arrest and conviction may have been expunged, the State may still use the conviction to enhance your sentence should you find yourself in trouble with the law again.
