Is there any value in expungement of a record where the charges were dismissed?
Asked on Nov 09th, 2021 on Expungements - Minnesota
More details to this question:
I was charged with a felony, the charge is being dismissed. Is there any value in having the records expunged given that the charge is being dismissed and no admission of guilt? I am most concerned about employment applications and travel into the US (I am located outside of the US and not a US citizen).
An expungement affects all records in the possession of the prosecutor, the court, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the county jail, the probation office, the Department of Human Services, the Department of Education, and all law enforcement agencies that were involved in the matter. An expungement would prevent members of the public from learning about the original criminal charges, arrest, or conviction.
Please contact me if you would like to go forward with the expungement process.
