QUESTION

Is there any way I won't have a record after shoplifting?

Asked on Apr 16th, 2017 on Criminal Law - Pennsylvania
More details to this question:
I was stopped walking out of a store. I had 4 things totaling a little over $50. Loss prevention originally told me that they weren't going to charge me then ended up calling the police. I have to report for fingerprinting etc.

You will have a criminal arrest record even if the case is dismissed. If you plead guilty, you will have a record for 5 years before you can expunge it. If it is withdrawn or dismissed, you can expunge as soon as the case is over. Hire an attorney as you will have a better chance getting out of this with no conviction.
