Is there any way of getting out of DUI classes?

More details to this question:
My boyfriend is currently in jail and serving time for another charge not relating to the DUI the plan is for him to serve all of his time so that he will not be on probation when he is releases. Will he still have to complete the classes? If he does is there any way out of doing them?

He has to complete the classes to get his license back from dmv. Notwithstanding that court will usually roll classes into jail and let him serve concurrently.

If he is no longer on probation (ie. he maxes out his time), then the court has no way to "make" him do the classes. However, the DMV will never issue him a license until he completes the classes.
