QUESTION

Is there anything I can do to avoid jail for a 3rd DWI in New Jersey?

Asked on Sep 03rd, 2012 on DUI/DWI - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I was pulled over with a BAC of 0.18 No accident. No speeding. But my license was suspended for not paying a surcharge that I was unaware of. I have PTSD from severe trauma and physical/sexual abuse suffered as a child. I have been in treatment before and desperately want help to stop drinking. I have a Bachelor's Degree. I work for a top investment firm. I am young. I am not a bad person just sick and want help. What can I do? I am definitely planning on hiring a lawyer but What can I expect? Would a judge allow treatment as an alternative to jail? Please help.

Update Your Profile
you need an over-all evaluation of the three DWI charges. 1. was anyone injured ? 2. how reckless was the behavior ? 3. did you have representation ? 4. what were the consequences ? 4. have you sought help for your medical issues ? drinking issues ? 5. are you a member of AA ? 6. are you receiving medical treatment ? counseling ?  if you do not take measures to help yourself, the task will be most difficult.  i would like to discuss our approach. we have had success by being 'anticipatory of society's needs. ed dimon, esq. 732-797-1600 ext 235
