QUESTION

Is there anyway I sue someone who insutls me?

Asked on Dec 19th, 2013 on Criminal Law - New York
More details to this question:
Is there anything somebody can be charged with who insults you outside your home? If not, is there a civil case that might be made of some kind. Specifically, if they are pretending to talk to their dogs but really they're talking to me by telling the dog what they think of me like, "don't bark at him, he's not worth it", etc. They are out of two different houses a few doors down, both directions. Another one has given a sign which means she would kill me or I will be killed. There is another one out of a fourth house which would take too long to describe properly.

You cannot sue someone for insulting you. You have no money damages and no lawyer will take the case. Not everything in life that you are not happy about results in a civil lawsuit. treat people well and you will be treated well. If they are mad at you there is something you have done most likely. Offer them a gift and try to change their opinion of you or ignore them. I would send them a bottle of wine with a card.
