QUESTION

Minor Consumption Warrent

Asked on May 22nd, 2012 on Criminal Law - Indiana
More details to this question:
I am 20 years old and i recieved a minor consumption ticket. I attended my first court date, and i said i wanted to wait to see if i could get a lawyer, so they issued me another court date to come back. Well, turns out, I cant afford one. Like an idiot i didnt go to my second court date because i was so confused about what was going to happen and i am broke and knew i wouldnt be able to afford the fees just yet. so my question is this... If i go turn myself in what will be the punishment? This is my first time ever getting in any type of trouble, and it will most certainly be my last. I just want to know what is going to happen and what i have to do to get it taken care of... can i just pay it off and maybe have to serve a little jail time? thank you for your time

You need to surrender yourself to the court and request a public defender. Do not wait to be picked up on the warrant.
