More details to this question:
I'm 17. Recently driving through a national park a ranger approached my car and offered to give directions. My friends grinder was on the floor under some papers and he saw and asked about it. He searched my car and found about 3 grams of marijuana, a grinder, and two small pipes. He confiscated everything and gave me a citation for $275. He said this will not show up on a criminal background search and my ticket has no court date on it. My questions are, will this really not show up on a record search? Can I still enlist in the Marines? What will happen to me? Do I need a lawyer? Also, this is my first offense.

It probably will show up on a record check unless you have an attorney in your area take a look at the charges. You mention a $275, which suggests to me that this is a Summary Offense which does not carry jail time. Nonetheless, guilty pleas to summary offenses almost always show up on a record. I would call an attorney in your county.
