my 16 year old is going to be charged with burglary

More details to this question:
A Xbox and alcohol was taken . My son did not give a statement and was told the state will be charging him with 1st degree burglary the family he stole from is not filing any charges .... its been about 6 weeks and I have not received any information from the police or court's saying what he will be charged with any idea how long it will take for mr to be notified?
