My boyfriend is being charged with attempted robbery in the second degree

More details to this question:
He attempted to rob a cab driver and in the process he assulted the cab driver and he didn't have any weapons at all and he also never was able to get the money from the driver or anytjing from him but he still attempted to also he is 21 no criminal record and I dont knkw what to do or how to help him please I need to know what hes facing and what we can do or if there is anyway to get him no prison time also the cab driver wrote a statement but hasn't showed up for the first court date
