my prison visitation denied, how can I get approved?

More details to this question:
My daughters father was arrested in April 2018 for aggravated assault on me, he served a jail sentence for it, but he also had a VOP which he had to go to prison for. I was pregnant at the time and 4 months ago I had our daughter, so he hasnt met her yet. Now he is in prison, serving his sentence for the vop. I submitted an application to go visit him so that he can meet his daughter and I was denied because I was a victim in a case with him. Is there any way that I can change that?
