Yes, your probation/parole officer can write down the license plate numbers.  You give up most of your rights when you are placed on probation or parole.  The probation/parole officer is able to not only go into your house and search it without a warrant typically, but can also inspect the exterior of any car that is sitting in your driveway in plain view.  Just like a private citizen can walk by your driveway and write down license plate numbers, so can a probation or parole officer.
