More details to this question:
Hello , I am going through 2 things at one . I might be filing For divorce as been in an abusive marriage for years . Also I was sexually assaulted few months back by a trusted person , this happened in another state .I went through a lot mentally and now have PTSD and just started talking about the assault . I am feeling stronger now and have found my voice now . If I were to file a report do I have to go to the state where it happened . Do I need to find a lawyer in that state . Its tough thinking I will handle 2 cases at once so still thinking .and also I didnt seek help immediately as was scared and ashamed as trusted person . Im not scared to report now as he has a bad history but it may not really end up in a case but atleast I can bring it into light ...Thank you so much

You must contact the police and the state where the sexual assault took place. The police in the state where the assault took place would do the investigation. The police in the state where the assault took place would bring the charges. You should do this ASAP so that there is a fresh complaint.
