Rescheduled case. Worried about total.

More details to this question:
Good morning! Happy thanksgiving day! I got 2 tickets: 1 for driving without driver's license. I have international driving permit. (Ticket dismissed in a court by prosecutor) and 2nd ticket for careless driving. In a court I didn't understand anything, but plead guilty. I thought to pay 85$, plus court fee and that's it. But they gave me 422$ total. I was shocked. Never happened to me before. (It's first time offence). I asked prosecutor to reschedule my case. Then they told me something about double price for next time. Now I'm confused about this situation. And don't know what to do. What can be in a court next time? And what total they will give me? Is it will be the same amount plus double court fee or more then that? Appreciate for help! Thank you very much!

i need to know the exact statute for 'careless driving'. 'careless driving' is a moving violation with a two [2] point penalty on your driving record in nj. the prosecutor may have given you a different violation, namely 'unsafe operation of a vehicle' which has no points but a greater 'surcharge' [fine] for the state. the latter is better for your driving record, but the cost is greater. ed dimon, esq. 732-797-1600
